Lotus Elan M100 Lotus has discontinued production of the early design shift cables (1989 to 1994) and replaced them with the very expensive S2 type cables which need to be installed as a SET of two cables along with a different gearbox end bracket. I am now offering a privately developed, more affordable, These cables are High Performance, 1/4 inch, Teflon Jacketed Control Cables and Race Grade, Teflon Lined Rod Ends (Heim Type Joints).
Adapters have been developed to enable these cables to fit the existing shift lever mechanism and is supplied with a new gearbox cable bracket. This kit will easily replace a set of stock cables with a more robust design that uses spherical bearing rod ends to minimize friction and improve the alignment tolerance compared to the stock cables. All of the parts in the kit are designed to minimize corrosion by using a Stainless Inner Cable wrapped in a Teflon Jacket inside a Heavy Duty Outer Jacket using Anodized Aluminum Bulkhead ends. The adapters are made primarily from Anodized Aluminum although a few pieces are made from Yellow Zinc Plated Steel. All of the hardware is Zinc Plated and, where available, are Yellow (gold) Chromate treated for additional rust prevention. The Shift Cable Kit includes BOTH cables: Crossgate and Fore-Aft (Select), a new abutment bracket and all of the adapters and hardware necessary to complete the installation. I also include a pair of very short 15/16" wrenches to work at the gearbox end which is under the intake manifold and other obstructions.
